To build houses maybe one of the most significant and characteristic human manifestations. A milestone in history was when we emerged from the caves, and made ourselves more flexible by colonising less welcoming areas. Very soon, however, we started building our houses for more than living in. The very human tendency of showing our wealth and status influenced how to shape the buildings. Apparently, a tendency that’s necessary for us to navigate in the social space.

Interesting what you can read from how houses are built and maintained.

The building art is man’s spatial dialogue with his environment and demonstrates how he asserts himself therein and how he masters it. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
